California homeowners—especially those in older homes—now have a powerful opportunity to protect their property and loved ones from earthquake damage.

The Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB) program is offering up to $3,000 in grants to help retrofit homes built before 1980. These retrofits strengthen crawl space walls and bolt homes to their foundations, making them far more resilient during seismic activity.
Even better, income-eligible households (earning $87,360 or less annually) may qualify for up to $10,000 total, potentially covering 100% of retrofit costs.
This year, the program has expanded to 815 high-risk ZIP codes, including many in the East Bay. If you live in one of these areas, now is the time to act.
